The Globe

5th June 2015

On Wednesday 3rd June, children in Years 3 - 6 travelled to London to visit the Globe Theatre as part of their learning on Shakespeare's Macbeth. As always the children's behaviour was exemplary and they were a credit to themselves and the school. Please read on to find out more about their day.

After travelling by train and tube we arrived at the magnificent Globe Theatre. The children were met by a member of the Globe’s team and were given a guided tour of the theatre. The children learnt about the history of the theatre and how its design influenced the works of Shakespeare. The children were then whisked away to a rehearsal room where they took part in a theatre workshop based upon Macbeth. The focus was on the projection and emotion of the voice. All the children were excited and I hope we have inspired some budding future actors!

After lunch, in the sunshine by the River Thames, we walked to the Tate Modern.  The children had the opportunity to explore the various galleries - the abstract works of art certainly made the children think!
