About Us

Great Gaddesden is a happy, vibrant village school with close connections to the parish church. Our school community is an excellent combination of caring and encouraging parents; supportive governors who challenge the school to be its absolute best; conscientious and creative staff with high expectations of all pupils and, most importantly, brilliantly thoughtful, enthusiastic and hard-working children

Great Gaddesden is a small Church of England primary school that has a distinctive Christian ethos enhanced by our close links with the parish church: St. John the Baptist.

At Great Gaddesden we promote a love of learning within a safe and happy environment where every person matters. We have high expectations of every member of our school community and we work in close partnership with governors, parents and the local parish, celebrating success in all that we do.  Great Gaddesden has a caring, inclusive environment with a ‘family feel’.  We offer high standards of teaching and learning across the curriculum and take great pride in the high standards of pupils’ learning behaviour demonstrated across the school.

“Great Gaddesden is a fully inclusive school where all pupils are welcomed and valued.  It is an environment where pupils can thrive."

OFSTED Report, March 2016

At Great Gaddesden Primary School, we want every child to achieve their absolute best and develop a true sense of self-worth.  To ensure this, we make every child feel valued, safe and happy.  We support pupils in making new friends, helping them to grow in confidence. Our school values encourage pupils to be, among other things: honest, reliable, inclusive, resilient and respectful.  This foundation ensures that we have high standards of pupils’ achievement across the curriculum, promoting progress in all lessons and developing the whole child.
