FOGGS

The school has an extremely enthusiastic and successful PTA known as, the ‘Friends of Great Gaddesden School’ (FOGGS), which all parents, carers, teachers, family members and members of the community are welcome to join.

The main aim of FOGGS is to raise money to support the learning and wider educational experiences of the pupils. We work closely to develop links with the local community and the church. There is also a social aspect to the work of FOGGS. It aims to bring parents and pupils together and to provide opportunities to socialise.

Who are we?

FOGGS (Friends of Great Gaddesden School) is a registered charity, run by parents of children within the school, supported by our head teacher, Mrs Wickens.

The team

Chair - Jo Buckland

Treasurer - Jenny Ivory

What do we do?

The committee meet regularly to discuss our fundraising activities, events and discuss how best to use the funds raised that will most benefit all the children.  We also receive regular updates from Mrs Wickens to help us with our planning.

Some of our regular favourite community events include our Christmas and Summer Fayres, raffles, egg hunts and cake sales and we even get involved with our local annual Santa Sleigh event. All these events are rewarding and help create fond memories for the families at the school.  FOGGS host a number of fund-raising events throughout the school year. Other recent events have included: Quiz Nights, Film Nights, Discos for pupils, Uniform Sales and many more.

What does the money raised go towards?

We fund the transport for the annual trip to the pantomime.

We have funded an end of school trip for our Year 6 children

We also pay for our annual public liability insurance through PTA UK (£63).

What are we currently focusing on?

Our largest fundraising project has been the creation of an all weather Outdoor Classroom in the Bark Area, providing essential academic and physical educational space for our growing school.

We are currently fund raising to equip the school with chrome books and we are hoping to be able to offer financial support to the school to help with the purchase of a new phonic scheme.

FOGGS is a great opportunity to learn a little more about the school, meet other parents and help our children have an even better experience at Great Gaddesden Church of England School.  Everyone is welcome.

What else can I do to help?

We are always looking for parents to help support our events so please let us know if you are a willing volunteer.
We welcome sponsorship from local companies and charity fund matching. We are always very grateful for the offer of any skill which may be of use to the school e.g. gardening.
