Great Gaddesden is a Volutary Aided Church of England Primary School. Our school is part the the Diocese of St Albans and we share our school site with St John's the Baptist church.
We are a fully inclusive school and welcome those of all faiths and of none to our school.
In addition to OFSTED inspections, as a church school we also receive a SIAMS inspection.
Our Theologically Rooted Vision
School mission statement: 'Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself'. (Luke 6:31)
“Great Gaddesden’s Christian vision is deeply embedded and has a profound impact on the life
of the school. The more recent addition of the ‘three Bes’ to the vision has sharpened its focus,
enhancing its impact. Consequently, leaders, adults and pupils understand and value it as a
crucial guide to their conduct, priorities and attitudes.”

.”The Christian vision is an imaginative, effective and compelling response to the context of this small, rural
school. This means that pupils flourish through a rich and diverse educational experience."

Our Values
Community Links
We use the church as an extension of our school, including extended for art sessions, drama productions, opportunities for periods of quiet reflection and celebrations of the liturgical year.
We make use of the outdoor environment to enhance our curriculum e.g. Forest School environmental art.
Our annual 'egg rolling' competition, which takes place after our Easter Service, is a favourite for all pupils and staff.
Throughout the year, we join with the church to make significant days in the calendar. This includes participating in the Remembrance Day Service, Christmas Carol Services and Christingle Service.
The School and Church "Friends" Associations also hold joint fundraising ventures, which include our Summer Fair.
Services are held at St John the Baptist each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. A family service is held every second Sunday of the month.
